As The Season Turns…

Our Little Snakes have begun playing somewhat better ball…starting pitching looks better, we’ve committed fewer errors, and have finally experienced a number of consecutive wins.  (Check William K’s Baby Back blog for specifics.)  In fact, the Sidewinders have actually won their first SERIES of the season against the Albuquerque Isotopes (Marlins AAA affiliate) in New Mexico this weekend.  Close your eyes if you are listening to the last game of that four-game series right this moment (tape-delayed on COOL 1450AM), but the Winders were unable to complete the four-game sweep at Albuquerque, losing today’s day game by a score of one to six.  STILL.  There are some signs of life for our team in the last week and a half.  In their last ten games, they’ve won seven and lost only three!  They’ll need to get a little stronger if they want to overcome their miserable season start, but now such at turnaround actually seems possible.

More incredible, to me at least, is the series that Nashville – our buddies in the PCL basement – just had with Salt Lake.  As you’ll probably recall, the Bees had only lost two games before they arrived in Nashville to meet the Brewers’ affiliate late last week.  These same Sounds who had dumped about as many games as Tucson had to that point, somehow BEAT the Bees in THREE of the four games, to win the series.  I’m still in shock over that!

Both the Sounds and the Sidewinders come to TEP tomorrow night having lost their final games of strong series away from home.  Our records are poor and very close.  I’m thinking it’ll be a good match for the Snakes and I hope that you’ll be there to cheer the Winders on!  Besides, there is at least some chance we’ll see D-Back greats Doug Davis and/or Chad Tracy on rehab assignments during this upcoming homestand!  Come on down for an evening of wonderful entertainment!

Here’s a look at the eight-game homestand that begins at TEP tomorrow evening:
