Neither the Toros nor the DBacks seems to have a clue about how to win a ballgame these days.   Doggone!  To give the Toros some credit, while the Yuma Scorpions may have been a pushover team living in the Southern Division basement through 2009, they are sitting on top of our Division this year with a 7 and 3 (.700) record.  Given their improved stature, I guess I should be pleased that the Toros battled and kept Yuma to a two-run lead in each of their last two losses.  The guys have 2 days off before returning to play at Hi Corbett on Tuesday night – let’s hope they come out swinging against the Victoria Seals on the First!

So, what’s a fan to do when her teams aren’t performing so very well?  I’ll take Amazing Stories in Baseball for $200, Alex!  Yes!  Eri Yoshida made her GBL debut for the Chico Outlaws last night.  She wasn’t overly impressed with her outing, but just seeing her on the mound must have been an amazing thing.  She’s only 18…female…and a knuckleballer, to boot!  What’s not to love about that?  The GBL website has an excellent article about her debut here  Eri pitched three innings and gave up four of the six runs Tijuana was able to score in their loss to the Outlaws.  She also got a hit and an RBI in her only at-bat!  No, she didn’t earn the win…but still, this feels like history in the making.  I hope Chico will continue to give the kid a chance to improve and strengthen her skills.  Imagine the impact she can have on the lives of young girls as a role model.  You go, Eri!
