Our new team’s 2011 schedule is now official!  You can find the Tucson Padres’ schedule by clicking this link:

The Padres will open in Colorado Springs versus the Sky Sox (it’s good to be typing PCL team names again!) on April 7th.  I’ve never understood why the PCL schedules homestands in Colorado during the last gasps of winter, but…  There you have it!  Our Padres will then travel to Salt Lake to play a series against the Bees before they arrive in Tucson for their Opening Day at Kino Stadium on April 15th.  Forget tax day, this year we have reason to cheer for the arrival of April 15th!  According to a schedule summary posted on the Tucson Padres’ FaceBook page, our Padres’ season will include 11 homestands, 29 weekend games and games on Memorial Day and Independence Day.  With the exception of the first five Sunday games at Kino, first pitch for all Tucson Padres games will be at 7pm.  And how’s this for fun:  the Reno Aces will be our opponent for the Fourth of July extravaganza!  (For those of you new to the Tucson baseball scene…the Reno Aces are the AAA affiliate for the Arizona Diamondbacks who played here in Tucson for years as the Tucson Sidewinders.)

Dear Tucson Baseball Fans:  this season with the Tucson Padres is critical to the future of baseball in our city.  I know not everyone loves the stadium formerly known as Tucson Electric Park, or TEP, but really…if you love baseball you need to help support this team.  Show up to games.  Talk it up with your friends.  I believe him when Mike Feder says he and his staff are going to do their utmost to present a quality product at reasonable prices.  Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt and show up to see these young Padres play ball.  Mark your calendars for April 15th…I hope to see you there!
