One Spring Game Afterall!

It turns out that there will be one Spring Training game here in Tucson in March!  As part of their old contracts with Pima County, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Chicago White Sox typically participated in one “charity” game during Spring Training.  Last year the teams were unable to schedule an event and so paid $50,000 to opt out.  This year however, they will, in fact, be playing a charity game!  The game will be played at Kino Stadium on March 7th at 1:05pm.  Ticket prices range from $6 to $20 for regular seating, and tickets go on sale Tues, Feb 22nd, at 10am.  And this is the cool part:  all proceeds will go to benefit the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Fund administered by the Community Foundation!  As Greg Hansen, sports guru for The Arizona Daily Star, urged in today’s paper, I certainly hope that the DBacks and the ChiSox send their regular players to this event (they’re playing split squad, so there’s a chance they’ll fob the minor leaguers into this away game).  The flip side of that particular coin:  we need to support this game, too.  It’s likely the only game we’ll see here this Spring…it supports a great cause…let’s make it a big deal! ith the Old Pueblo.
