You remember this children’s dance, don’t you?  Thinking about the many transactions effecting our Padres called this song to mind for me…  You put your right arm in (RHP Evan Scribner is back down from San Diego)…you put your right arm out (RHP Samuel Deduno has been designated for assignment)…and you shake it all about!  Also down from San Diego:  OF Will Venable has been optioned to Tucson after hitting only .224 in the Bigs this year.  And gone-gone:  INF Alex Cintron has announced his retirement after batting .350 in 17 games for Tucson.  Shake it all about and let’s get some wins!

May 23rd – Tucson 1; Omaha 2.  Our Padres are in Omaha and lost a tough one vs. the Storm Chasers last night (that name kind of gives me the willies given the horrendous tornado season we’ve seen this year), handing Jeremy Hefner his fourth loss of the season.  Funny, but on the TV news last night, the sportscaster announced the score…and the ONLY other thing he mentioned was that 1B Anthony Rizzo went oh for four in the game.  Okay, so he was highlighting the disconnect between Rizzo’s lack of production after being named Offensive Player of the Month by the San Diego Padres (link), but still…there are nine players on the field each night!  What about them?  I know everyone is enamored of Anthony – and ain’t he something! – but really, there’s a whole team behind him that deserves a look, too.  Cintron went out on a solid note:  he had two hits in three at bats and took a walk.  Aaron Cunningham was two for four.  Luis Durango stole his sixth base.  Logan Forsythe got his 21st RBI.  And in spite of the loss, Hefner K’d six batters.  We out-hit the Storm Chasers last night, nine to six.  We just got to work on getting more of those guys home!

The Tucson Padres play three more in Omaha before returning home for a Memorial Day homestand on Friday, May 27th.  They’ll play four with the Salt Lake Bees and the weekend promises loads of fun at the ol’ ballpark!  There’ll be a T-Pad Tee Shirt giveaway on Friday, Fireworks on Saturday, Military Appreciation Night and a second Bark in the Park event on Sunday, capped by a Memorial Day KiiM Family Night on Monday, May 30th.  For more details, click here:  Promos
