Vegas Lucky for T-Pads!

Actually, I’m hoping that it’s far beyond mere “luck.”  I’d like to think that things are starting to gel for our team and that we’ll be seeing them take off from here on out!

June 1st  – Tucson 9, Las Vegas 4.  This game was actually close through the early innings, but the T-Pads exploded with five runs in the sixth to take a decisive lead.  Vegas reliever, Wil Ledezma, had just come into the game and the Padres took him for a single, three doubles, a couple outs, a couple walks…and five runs later, Wil was gone.  The nail in the coffin for Wil was the three-run double by Jesus Guzman.  Tucson used five pitchers in the game, but starter Matt Buschmann was able to go six innings (ten hits, no walks, five earned runs – two of which were homers, and five Ks) and earn his second win.  No homers for Tucson and one error.  OF Bobby Kielty was activated off the DL (calf strain) and stood in as the Padres’ DH last night.  He did very well, going two for four at the plate (with one double), two RBIs, and one run-scored.  Anthony Rizzo was not in the lineup last night, though he has also not been placed on the DL, so I hope he’s still just day-to-day with that hand bruise.  Matt Clark played first for us and went two for five with a run-scored.

Last Night in The Show:   Our Logan Forsythe went one for four with the Padres in their loss against the Braves in Atlanta last night.  Aaron Cunningham struck out in his pinch-hitting debut off the bench.

Our Padres remain in Las Vegas where they’ll face the 51s (Toronto affiliate) for two more games.  With two wins under their belt right now, the worst they can do is split the series:  but I’m hoping for a sweep!  They return home on Saturday, June 4th, for four against the Tacoma Rainiers followed by four with the 51s (after an off day between the two series).  See upcoming promotions here:  Promos.

Hopes dashed – at least for a moment – after last night’s loss. But there’s always tonight! Thanks for following this all the way from Poland, Lois!
