Say It Isn’t So!!

Every time I think our Padres are on a roll, they seem to take two steps back on me.  After a strong performance in Vegas and taking game one in this home series vs. the Rainiers, I was really positive they’d finally found that elusive “groove.”  But Sunday night was a loss and last night…  What to say?  I listened to the 10pm sports segment of the news and was positive that I’d somehow misheard the announcer when he said the final score was 24 to 3 in favor of Tacoma.  Surely that couldn’t be right!  That’s a blowout in football!  In baseball it’s ridiculous and highly unlikely.  Couldn’t be right!  Alas, they spoketh the truth…

June 6th  – Tucson 3, Tacoma 24.  Tucson committed three errors and the only Rainier who didn’t get a hit walked four times as our Padres went down in flames on Tuesday night.  Surprisingly, the Pads got on the board first, with one run in the first…their next came in the fourth…the last in the seventh.  Jesus Guzman accounted for two of those RBIs; the other was credited to Jarrett Hoffpauir.  Starter Matt Buschmann took the loss (his third) for two innings of work (he pitched to seven batters in the third, but didn’t record an out).  He allowed eleven runs (eight earned).  Four normal relievers followed and Guillermo Quiroz, yes, our backup catcher, closed.  His outing wasn’t as strong as OF Bobby Kielty’s was the night before:  he gave up a grand slam.  Let us not speak of this game again.

You Won’t Want to Miss This!!  One more with the Tacoma Rainiers, followed by four with the 51s (after an off day on Wednesday).  See upcoming promotions here:  Promos.  Don’t Forget:  the Famous San Diego Chicken will be in town this Friday, June 10th.  You gotta be there for that one!  And hey!  It’s not too early to get your tickets for the Fourth of July Star Spangled Spectacular!  All you former Sidewinders fans should know that the T-Pads will be playing the new DBacks AAA affiliate Reno Aces on that date – what a match up!  Fireworks on the field and off!

24 to 3?!!! If I had no hometown ties, that would have been fun to watch. Jazzy new layout, but I could find a place to comment, so I switched to the old view.

I was kind of glad I skipped that game! 🙂
Sure surprised to hear that I have a new layout! Wish I could see it… Any wordpress experts out there to explain what that’s about?
