Fireworks vs. Fresno!

The Tucson Padres saw their biggest attendance of the season (over 7,500 fans!) for a game in which the home team trounced the visitors…and then there were fireworks!

June 25th – Tucson 8; Fresno 3.  RHP Wade LeBlanc earned his sixth win of the season for an eight-inning effort on the mound.  Wade allowed only two earned runs on seven hits and two walks.  No homers and eight Ks.  He also got a pickoff.  And that’s not all!  Wade went two for four at the plate and was responsible for three RBIs!  His batting average makes him look like the team leader in offense:  .471!  Wow!  Other notables from the evening:  SS Everth Cabrera went three for five with a solo homer.  CF Cedric Hunter also went two for four with a triple, a run-scored and an RBI.  He also successfully stole a base.  Logan Forsythe and Andy Parrino also stole a base.  No Tucson errors; and Greg Burke successfully closed the door (though he allowed a final earned run) on the Grizzlies.

Transactions.  RHP Evan Scribner got roughed up in his outing in the Bigs on Saturday night and today the Padres optioned Evan back to Tucson.

Here’s What’s Next…   The Fresno Grizzlies (SF Giants affiliate) are in town for three more games, including tonight’s contest.  GM Mike Feder has reaffirmed that fireworks planned for July 4th are still “a go” in spite of the recent fireworks ban instituted by the County.  So, now more than ever, you’ll want to get tickets for the Fourth of July Star Spangled Spectacular!  It’ll be one of the few places in Tucson to see fireworks during this dangerously dry, hot summer…  AND the T-Pads will be playing the Reno Aces – what a match up!  Former Tucson Sidewinders team, meet new Tucson Padres team!  Check Promos here.
