I’ll be taking a break from this blog for a week…  Before I go, here’s your report on last night’s VICTORY over the New Orleans Zephyrs.

August 4th – Tucson 7; New Orleans 4.  LHP Rob Musgrave got his third start at the AAA level last night (his previous T-Pad start was in May):  he went five and two-thirds innings and allowed three runs (only two earned) on four hits and four walks (three Ks).  He didn’t factor in the decision.  Reliever Will Inman earned the win, his fifth of the year.  He followed Rob and pitched one and one-third innings:  no runs, only one hit allowed.  1B Anthony Rizzo was curiously quiet last night; no hits…but he walked twice and got a run-scored.  Major production out of new guy Drew Macias (see Transactions):  he went two for three with a double and three RBIs.  Eric Patterson played 2B last night and it appeared to agree with him!  He was an awesome three for three with a solo homer (only his second of the year!), a walk and three runs-scored!  LF Matt Clark brought in two RBIs to raise his season total to 73.  Tucson pitching allowed NO New Orleans homers – in fact, our guys held the Zephyrs to only one extra-base hit (a double).  We did commit one error.

Transactions.  The San Diego Padres signed OF Drew Macias from Camden of the independent Atlantic League and have assigned him to Tucson.  They also activated RHP Joe Thatcher off the 60-day DL.  Former T-Pad, OF Luis Durango, was optioned back to Oklahoma City RedHawks from the Houston Astros.  That means there’s once again a chance to see him play for his new team in the next series at Kino!

Our Team In Town Through August 10th!!   The T-Pads are home for two more against the New Orleans Zephyrs (Florida Marlins AAA affiliate), followed by a four-game series at Kino versus the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Houston Astros AAA affiliate).  GM Mike Feder and staff have lots of good things on tap for the fans!  Check it out:  Promos
