Memphis Takes Series

In most of my favorite baseball movies, there’s a player on the team who has some ritual for bringing hitting power to his bat.  I’m beginning to think our guys need to take lessons from those characters as the T-Pads had a second consecutive night of virtual silence at the plate…

August 15th – Tucson 1; Memphis 7.  Redbird pitching held Tucson to only five hits and four walks, while Tucson’s staff gave up 12 hits and four walks.  Given our limited production at the plate, the way Tucson scored is even more ironic:  with one out Kyle Phillips took a walk to first in the seventh, advanced to second on a single, and then two consecutive fielding errors by Memphis brought Kyle home for our only run scored.  Not only did Tucson not commit an error, we made the Redbirds pay for theirs!  That, at least, is something…  Other odds and ends:  Tucson turned two double plays but allowed three stolen bases.  Eighth inning reliever, Brad Brach, allowed a three-run homer to pinch-hitter Adron Chambers.  LF Matt Clark struck out three times;  1B Anthony Rizzo struck out twice.  They both also reached base on a walk.  LHP Rob Musgrave worked six innings and took the loss (his first in AAA this season) for allowing eight hits, three walks, three earned runs, and one hit batsman.  He did strike out five.

Transactions.  No new transactions reported at this time.

Last Homestand Begins on August 20th!!   The T-Pads are on the road at the Nashville Sounds (Milwaukee Brewers AAA affiliate) for the next four days and return home for four against Sacramento and four vs. those DBack-affiliate Aces (from Reno) beginning on Saturday, Aug 20th.  This will be the final homestand of the season (a fact which I have a hard time believing!  Where did the season go?), so you gotta make time to catch a game!  GM Mike Feder and staff have lots of good things on tap for the fans!  Check it out:  Promos
