T-Pads Split Last Two

A thunderstorm blew in before I could get yesterday’s blog post written…and it’s kind of a good thing since I can make this post half good news!

August 17th – Tucson 0; Nashville 4.   Wednesday was another night where the Tucson bats made nary a sound against this Brewers affiliate team.  Tucson got only three hits – and none of them by our “usual suspects.”  Thanks to Chris Denorfia, Drew Macias and Anthony Contreras for our only attempts at offense.  Opposing pitching didn’t even allow us a base on balls!  RHP Jon Leicester gave up all four Nashville runs (including two homers) during his five innings of work, earning him his seventh loss of the season.  No Tucson errors and we did turn one double play.  That’s about it for the good news.

August 18th – Tucson 8; Nashville 6.   A win!!  Just when it appeared Tucson was in a deep funk, the guys went and blasted out all eight runs late in last night’s game.  Tucson had already given up all six of the Sounds runs and it appeared Nashville’s starting pitcher, LHP Sam Narron, was going to make a complete game of it, when the wheels fell off in the eighth inning.  Our Pads sent 14 batters to the plate and wore out Narron and three relievers before the inning expired.   Tucson scored all eight without the benefit of a home run, though we did have three doubles.  Contreras, Steve Tolleson, and Matt Clark each were credited with two RBIs.  Although we had another error, we turned two double plays…and did I mention that WE WON?   I hope this late inning comeback will swing the momentum Tucson’s way for tonight’s closing game in the Nashville series.  Come on T-Pads – split this series with the Sounds!

Transactions.  RHP Stiven Osuna was assigned to Tucson from the Fort Wayne TinCaps.

Last Homestand Begins on August 20th!!   The T-Pads are on the road at the Nashville Sounds (Milwaukee Brewers AAA affiliate) for only ONE more day and return home for four against Sacramento and five vs. those DBack-affiliate Aces (from Reno) beginning tomorrow night, Aug 20th.  This will be the final homestand of the season, so you gotta make time to catch a game!
GM Mike Feder and staff have lots of good things on tap for the fans!  Check it out:  Promos
