Tucson lost in last night’s contest versus the Tacoma Rainiers…but is hanging onto a slim lead in today’s day game that is being played as I type this update.  (Oh heck!  Tacoma just tied it up in the bottom of the eighth…NO, NO, NO!!  Tacoma just went up a run in the bottom of the eighth!!)

Saturday, 26 May:  Tucson 4, Tacoma 6.   Once again, the fact Tucson lost had less to do with inability to HIT than it does with bringing runners home.  Tucson out-hit Tacoma 12 to 11 in last night’s game, but left 13 runners on base: seven in scoring position!  And the Rainiers didn’t even turn a double play!  Tucson never had a lead in the game, though they kept it close until Tacoma put up two in the third and three in the fourth.  Tucson got two more runs in the fifth, when Cody Decker hit his first AAA home run to bring in Yasmani Grandal as well.  But that was the end of the scoring for both sides.  Decker and Grandal both had good outings, going three for five.  Anthony Contreras also had a solo home run in the game.  Starting pitcher, Colt Hynes, took the loss for four innings of work.  He allowed six runs (only three earned…oh yeah, did I mention both teams were charged with two errors each?) on nine hits, no walks, and no Ks.  Both Jason Ray and Cory Burns took two scoreless innings, though both were charged with a wild pitch.

Transactions and Injury Report.  A number of moves today.  First, P Will Scott has been assigned to Extended Spring Training from Tucson.  RHP Chris Haney has been assigned to Tucson from A Lake Elsinore Storm.  OF Sawyer Carroll has gone on the 7-day DL (darn!) and OF Mykal Stokes has been added to our roster from Extended Spring Training.  In fact, Mykal has entered the game in Tacoma today.

T-Pads on the Road for a Short Time…   Tucson is in Pacific Northwest country to face the Tacoma Rainiers (AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners) for one more game tomorrow.  It will be another day game for Memorial Day.  Our Pads will return to Kino for a four-game stand versus the Los Vegas 51s (AAA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) this Tuesday, May 29th.  You can check the promotions for the next homestand here .

Rumor Alert:  there is some chance that former Big League slugger, Vladimir Guerrero, will be playing with the Las Vegas 51s during the upcoming series with Tucson!  Vlad signed a minor league contract with the Blue Jays and has been working his way back to the Bigs.  He’s done some work with their A team and will either go to AA or AAA next.  Crossing my fingers he’ll be with Las Vegas this coming week in Tucson!  Wow!  (article)
