Well, THAT Didn’t Work…

I totally felt like a slacker last night as I skipped the T-Pad’s game in the hopes it might bring the team a win.  On the other hand, it was kind of nice to simply read a good book all evening.  But the sad thing is, my “taking one for the team” didn’t work at all.  Just a fluke that the last two T-Pad wins came on games I missed.  Of course, I knew that for real…but had hoped my “sacrifice” might make a difference.  Anyway, I’ll be hanging next to the radio once again tonight, as the T-Pads attempt to split this series with a victory in the final game against the Vegas 51s here at Kino Stadium.

Last time around with Vegas, the story was (at least as I recall it) all about their hitting.  Sure, they’ve still got the hitting thing going for them, but in this series they’ve also displayed exceptional pitching.  Take last night, for instance.  Their starter, Scott Richmond, had a no-hitter going through six innings!  Fortunately, Matt Clark broke that up in the seventh inning with a double!  And that ended Richmond’s evening.  Evan Crawford also looked pretty terrific for Vegas as he took one and two-thirds scoreless innings of relief.  Thankfully, 51 closer Jerry Gil was hittable!  The T-Pads managed to scratch together two runs in the bottom of the ninth to cut the score in half.  On offense…bet you can guess who had the game’s only homer!  Come on!  Look at the posts from this series…  Any clue?  Why, it was the pesky Travis Snider, of course, putting up a two-run homer as part of the Vegas three-run third!  On the home side, Matt was the only T-Pad with a multi-hit game (he went two for three with a double, a walk and a run-scored) while 2B Anthony Contreras continued his clutch performance at the plate.  Contreras went one for four, but accounted for both of Tucson’s RBIs with his two-out single in the ninth that scored Matt and Yasmani Grandal.  Tucson got only four hits – and committed three errors.  Ouch.  Final Score:  Tucson 2; Las Vegas 4.

Transactions and Injury Report.  I’m not seeing anything new to report today.
