Rain Rain Messin’ With the Game

I am SUCH a wimp!  We’ve been in such a strong monsoon weather pattern lately, that at the barest hint of rain yesterday afternoon I decided to cancel my plans to attend last night’s game versus the Reno Aces.  Wouldn’t you know it, it was a beautiful evening here – not a speck of rain after the brief 3pm storm.  And doggone, I really HAD wanted to get one of those Jedd Gyorko posters!  I began feeling less wimpy and stupid about my decision when radio broadcaster Tim Hagerty announced the wind was shifting and rain beginning to fall at the Park.  This was only 45 minutes into the game…third inning in progress.  Soon it was pouring there, the tarp was on the field, and we all commenced to waiting out the rain delay.  I’ve found I like Tejano music (which is the normal programming for Tejano Radio 1600, of course)!  An hour after the tarp went down, the game was suspended.  Field conditions unsafe for play.  And so, the two teams will resume play of last night’s game at 5:30pm this evening.  They’ll complete nine innings of that game (beginning with the top of the fourth, Reno ahead one to nothin’) and then play tonight’s scheduled game as a 7-inning double-header.  In my opinion, this may work in favor of the T-Pads:  they were getting NOTHING going against Aces starter (just down from the majors) Patrick Corbin (one hit, one walk, no runs, three Ks) – so I like the idea that they’ll see someone else tonight!  No Final Score – game rain-suspended.

Transactions and Injury Report.   San Diego has swapped out a couple of our pitchers, once again.  They’ve optioned Miles Mikolas back to Tucson, while calling up Nick Vincent for another shot at The Show.

Homestand Continues Through Thursday!   The T-Pads will face the Reno Aces for the next three nights (assuming we get a break in the monsoon pattern we’re in!).  Tonight the teams will start play at 5:30pm, completing the game started last night…will have about a half hour break between games, and will then play a seven-inning game for the regularly-scheduled game.  Gates will open at 5pm this evening and ONE ticket will be good for both games.  Don’t forget, Tuesdays are always eegee’s Free Ticket Tuesdays!  Stop by your favorite eegee’s restaurant in the Tucson area and get your FREE tickets to any Tuesday night game.  Tomorrow night will be Wiener Wednesday – hot dogs will be just one dollar all night long!  AND there’s another great Social Media Night special available to anyone who LIKES the Tucson Padres on Facebook.  Check it out – you can’t miss with these great deals!   Check here for more information about July promotions at Kino Stadium.
