Sadly, the End is in Sight

This is not really NEWS, I suppose, since we’ve seen the signs this would be coming…but it is OFFICIAL now:  the AAA baseball club currently known as the Tucson Padres have been sold to the MountainStar Sports Group in El Paso Texas.  PCL Commissioner, Branch Rickey, was on hand in El Paso for the official announcement and happily welcomed El Paso into the Pacific Coast League family.  (Nice summary of events at this link )

And so, the 2013 season will be the final time we can support and enjoy our own AAA Tucson Padres.  At some future time I’ll be worrying about what this blog will look like after all LIVE baseball has left the Old Pueblo…for now I’ll just remind you to:  Save the Date!   The Tucson Padres will kick off their 2013 home season with a game at Kino Stadium on April 21, 2013.  Mark your calendars now!
